Longer pieces go first
The planner sorts requested lengths from longest to shortest. Identical lengths keep their original row order.
A stock-length shopping planner
Enter the pieces you need, one stock length and your kerf allowance. See a longer-first suggested grouping, remaining offcuts and an optional quoted cost.
Shopping arithmetic only. The first-fit decreasing layout is a heuristic, not a guaranteed optimum. All stock is treated as interchangeable. Width, thickness, grain, defects and real cutting constraints are outside this length model.
Each bar shows one stock board. Piece colours follow the cut-size rows.

The diagram splits your combined end allowance equally between its two ends for display only. Narrow kerf or end segments may be too small to see; the numbers below each board give the full accounting.
The planner sorts requested lengths from longest to shortest. Identical lengths keep their original row order.
Each piece goes into the earliest board with space under the stated kerf model. A new board is added when none of the earlier boards can hold it.
This quick approach can use more boards than another arrangement. Review the remaining lengths and your real stock constraints before placing an order.
